Three Stages Workshop

Outline

With a key focus on learning and application, the Fit Forward Strategy provides seniors with specific activities and tools to drive motivation and action. It has three stages as follows:

Stage 1; Pre-Learning Activities
Participants are provided simple reading material and motivational videos that shows how seniors have achieved success at different functional capacities and ages. The readings will ensure a comprehension of activities to follow with a time line. The fitness evaluation will be able to fit you on the Five Functional Levels scale. A goal setting discussion is held. Real issues ensure realistic goals with active participation.

Stage 2; Fit Forward Strategies
The activities will be designed and actioned according to the needs identified and in line with the goals of the individual. Activities will involve exercises according to capability, breathing techniques and a mind body connection to address specific physical issues. Each session will be for 1 hour including warmup and cooldown activities and support discussions. Activities will include modified Resistance (strength) training, Endurance (Cardio), modified Yoga and Tai Chi (Flexibility and Balance).

Stage 3;  Fit Forward Support
Seniors who “graduate” to actively pursue their own health and fitness lifestyle, (this is encouraged)  will have a number of supports in place. They will continue to receive News Letters regarding senior health and fitness and replies to queries they may have on fitness issues. They are encouraged to come and participate (and possibly assist others if they so wish) in ongoing Fit Forward Strategies. Life is all about Supporting and Learning…and having Fun.
